Lesson 6 of 6 in Set Up a Trustworthy Workspace
Why this matters
The Research page feeds the whole product. The page itself describes these as "sources the marketing brain uses across your Plan, Advisor, content, and briefings." Good sources make the advisor specific, the plan grounded, and the content informed. But a source is useful only once the system has processed it. Knowing the difference between added and ready keeps you from acting on context that has not landed yet.
When to use it
During onboarding (past campaigns, offer sheets, brand docs), and ongoing: after every campaign, win, or loss worth remembering.
Before you start
Confirm the right workspace is active (see Work in the right workspace). Have the materials or links at hand: past campaign reports, offer sheets, sales objections, competitor screenshots, service menus.
Do this
- 1Open the Research page: Open in Signal & Science.
- 2Click "Add sources", or drag and drop materials anywhere on the page.
- 3Put each source in the right mode: "My Content" for your own material, "Market Sources" for everything else. ("All sources" shows both together.)
- 4Watch the state: uploading → validating → ready, then "Context processing" until it reaches "Context ready" (or "Context limited" when little readable text was found). A source is not fully usable until it reaches "Context ready." Added is not the same as understood, so wait for "Context ready" before expecting the advisor or the plan to use it.
- 5Once a source is "Context ready," expect it to inform plans, advisor answers, content, and briefings. A new source will not silently rewrite your business profile or your plan; if it suggests an update, you review it first.
What you should see
Each source shows its state (uploading, validating, ready) and, when processing is complete, "Context ready." The mode tabs ("All sources", "My Content", "Market Sources") keep your material separate from market material, each with its own count and list.
How to judge it
You can name the state of any source on the page and say whether the advisor can use it yet. If it is not "Context ready," the answer is no, regardless of when you uploaded it.
What it does not mean
- A source's existence is not proof its claims are true. Sources are context, not verdicts: a competitor's case study is their marketing, not your evidence.
- More sources are not automatically better. Ten processed, relevant sources beat a hundred unprocessed uploads.
Try it in Signal & Science
Open Research, add one source in the right mode, and wait until it shows "Context ready".
