Course 9 · Lesson 7 of 7

Build a repeatable weekly review habit

Hold one weekly review in a fixed slot that closes the loop on what shipped, what was measured, what changed, and what next week should keep or change.

Lesson 7 of 7 in Make the System Learn

Why this matters

Everything in this course only compounds if it happens regularly. The weekly review is the operating rhythm that turns scattered evidence into a learning system: one sitting, once a week, where you close the loop on what shipped, what was measured, what changed, and what next week keeps, simplifies, skips, or changes. The weekly digest (Monday at 7:00 AM in your workspace timezone) is the prompt. This lesson builds the habit.

When to use it

Once a week. Monday morning, when the digest arrives, is the natural slot, but any fixed slot you will actually keep beats a perfect slot you will not.

Before you start

  • At least one week of plan activity behind you (shipped tasks, open windows, something measured).
  • The digest timing set: on the Workspace page, the "Digest Timing" card notes that the weekly digest sends Monday at 7:00 AM in the selected timezone. Choose the timezone and click Save, and confirm it is the one you actually work in. The digest goes to the workspace owner, only while the client has an active plan and "Weekly digest emails" is on in Settings.

Do this

  1. 1When the Monday digest arrives (7:00 AM, workspace timezone), open it, then open the Marketing Plan page. The digest is the prompt; the plan is the workspace.
  2. 2Walk the checklist, item by item, and give each one a real answer:
  • Outcome: where does the primary business outcome stand against its target (baseline → current → target)?
  • Priority move: what is this week's one move, and why is it next?
  • What changed: what shifted in the numbers since last time (read "What changed and why")?
  • Shipped: which tasks completed?
  • Measured: which shipped tasks have final results and verdicts?
  • Unmeasured: which completed tasks still need results recorded, and who will record them, by when?
  • Learned: what did Marketing Memory gain this week?
  • Decision needed: any pending decisions in the inbox? Resolve them (see Approve, dismiss, or defer a decision).
  1. 1Record any missing results now: open "Log a task outcome" and close the measurement gaps before they age. A result unlogged for two weeks is a result the next plan never learns from.
  2. 2Make next week's calls on the plan itself: keep a task as it is, reorder with the arrows on the task cards, "Skip" what no longer fits (with its reason), or "Add task" for what is missing. Use "Edit plan" only for rework; it builds a new draft plan and uses credits. Shrinking the plan is allowed.
  3. 3End the review with one sentence written down: what changed this week because of evidence, and what it means for next week. That sentence is the week's learning, captured.

What you should see

The digest in the workspace owner's inbox Monday at 7:00 AM (workspace timezone), when weekly digests are on. A plan page where every checklist item has an answer. Unmeasured tasks visibly shrinking as results get recorded.

How to judge it

The review is done when: every checklist item has an answer, every pending decision has a resolution, every recordable result is recorded, and next week's plan reflects the keep/simplify/skip/change calls. One sitting, same slot each week.

What it does not mean

The review is not a performance grade of you, the week, or the business. Unmeasured items are a to-do list, not a failure. A week with honest "inconclusive" verdicts and a smaller, sharper plan is a successful week.

Try it in Signal & Science

Open the Marketing Plan and run this week's review against the checklist.

Signal & Science keeps the evidence, the plan, and the results in one place, so each lesson here becomes a working habit in your own workspace.
