Lesson 1 of 7 in Run the Week

Why this matters
Most weeks fail before they start. The operator opens a long task list, picks whatever feels urgent, and the priority the diagnosis identified waits another week. The "THIS WEEK'S MOVE" card ("YOUR NEXT MOVE" on goal-driven plans) is where Plan hands off to Execute: one task chosen against your outcome and your capacity. Starting there keeps budget and attention on the work the evidence supports, and it gives the Measure step one clear piece of work to judge when its window closes.
When to use it
Start of the week, and any time you return after days away. If you don't know what to do first, start here, not in the task list.
Before you start
- You have a Marketing Plan with at least one task. If there is no plan yet, the page says your plan starts with a diagnosis: build the plan first (see Build the Right Plan).
- You know your primary business outcome (the target the plan is driving toward).
Do this
- 1Open the Marketing Plan and read the "THIS WEEK'S MOVE" hero. It names the one task the plan recommends first.
- 2Read the hero task card: title, description snippet, and tags (for example "High impact" or "Offer").
- 3Read the strip under the hero: "Built from your diagnosis (the displayed date) · Business Intake". Both are links. Follow them when you want the evidence behind the recommendation, and note the date so you know how fresh the reasoning is.
- 4If the recommendation isn't obvious, choose "Ask why this move". It opens the Marketing Advisor on this task, so you can question the play before you commit.
- 5Start real work. On a content task the hero offers "Generate from this move", which opens Create; otherwise "Go to task" jumps to the task card, where you can ask about it, set a due date, skip it, or mark it done.
- 6Sequence the rest of the week's work around real capacity. The hero task is first, not everything.
What you should see
One recommended task in the hero with its tags, plus the "Built from" strip naming the diagnosis date. If you have no plan yet, the page says your plan starts with a diagnosis instead of inventing a move. That is accurate: there is no move to make until a plan exists.
How to judge it
You can name this week's move, explain why it was chosen, and say what decision it needs from you. If "Ask why this move" gives you an answer grounded in your business evidence, the loop is working.
What it does not mean
A recommendation is not a mandate. The system made a case; you can reorder, skip, or add to the plan, or rebuild it with "Edit plan". Nor is the move the whole week: it is the first task, not a ceiling on your workload. A clear recommendation is also not a promise that the move will work.
Try it in Signal & Science
