Course 7 · Lesson 7 of 7

Save, keep the content-task connection, and ship

Save the final file, keep the alternates, preserve the link to the plan task, and ship so the result can be measured later.

Lesson 7 of 7 in Create Work That Fits the Strategy

Why this matters

An asset only matters once it is used and measured. Work started from a plan task is saved with a link to that task, and the task is where the result is measured: its baseline is captured when you mark the task done, or, for a task tracked by its published URL, counting starts from zero when you save that URL. Break that chain and the result cannot be attributed, so the Measure and Learn steps have nothing honest to work with.

When to use it

When the asset is final (saved, reviewed, and liked) and ready for its channel, and again right after it goes live.

Before you start

  • A saved, liked asset (Refine in the design editor), created from the plan task so it carries the task link.
  • The task's measurement in mind: what "How we'll know it worked" says, and whether the card asks for a published URL.
  • Publishing access for the channel the task names.

Do this

  1. 1Confirm the final version is saved and "Liked". Keep the runner-up: other images in the run, duplicates, and earlier runs under "Recent Asset Runs" stay available if the channel needs a variant.
  2. 2Ship it through your normal publishing path for the channel. Use "Download" for the file and "Copy caption and image details" in the image view for the words.
  3. 3Optionally record the release on the asset. In the "Review" tab, a liked image can show an "Execution" panel where "Publish" takes the channel, "Published URL", and UTM values; click "Save manual publish". An editor's manual publish goes to an owner or manager as an approval request instead.
  4. 4Return to the task with "Back to task" in Create, or open it on the Marketing Plan. Where the card asks for it, paste the exact public address (for example into "Published page URL") and click "Save URL".
  5. 5Mark the task done when the work is done. That captures the measurement baseline; for a URL-tracked task, the count starts from zero once the URL is saved.
  6. 6When the result is ready, the "Log a task outcome" panel lists completed tasks so you can review or record it (Log a task outcome).

What you should see

The task shows its saved URL. Once it is marked done, an integration-backed task inside its window reads "Task completed. Measurement pending.", and a task that needs a number from you reads "Task completed. Result still needed." The asset stays in its run, linked to the task.

How to judge it

Someone else could open the task in a month and see what the asset was for, where it ran, and what happened. If the URL was never saved or the task was never marked done, the connection is broken and the result cannot be measured against the task.

What it does not mean

  • Shipping is not success. Publishing completes execution; only a measured result says whether it worked (see Measure What Happened).
  • A measured change is not proof the asset caused it. Other work and the market move the same numbers.
  • A pending result is not a failure. It means the window is still open.

Try it in Signal & Science

Open the plan task on your Marketing Plan and confirm the saved asset is still linked to it before you ship.

Then continue to Measure What Happened.

Put it to work

Know what to do next.Know whether it worked.

Signal & Science keeps the evidence, the plan, and the results in one place, so each lesson here becomes a working habit in your own workspace.
