Course 7 · Lesson 1 of 7

Move from a plan task to Create

Start content from a plan task so its audience, objective, and brand rules travel into Create with it.

Lesson 1 of 7 in Create Work That Fits the Strategy
The Create page's New Asset Run form.
The Create page's New Asset Run form: content tabs, theme, reference URL, output settings, and the credit cost before you generate.

Why this matters

Create is where the Execute step happens, and a plan task is its brief: a specific job on a specific channel, with a reason it was prioritized. Starting from the task carries that brief into Create and keeps a link back to it, so the ideas you generate or add are saved against the task and the result can be measured later. Start from a blank page and the asset has no job on record, which makes it hard to judge whether it should ship or whether it worked.

When to use it

Whenever the Marketing Plan hands you a content task: a social post, ad, email, video script, Google post, or SEO content. If the card offers no Create action, use the task steps or the advisor instead.

Before you start

  • An active Marketing Plan with at least one content task on it.
  • The right workspace selected. The plan and the Brand Kit both belong to it, so work started elsewhere carries the wrong brief and brand.
  • A saved Brand Kit. Create reads it on every run; Use brand voice, typography, logos, and reusable assets covers the setup.

Do this

  1. 1Open the Marketing Plan and find the content task you want to produce. Read the card first: what it asks for, why it matters, the channel, and, if it is measured, "How we'll know it worked".
  2. 2Click "Generate ideas" on the task card. On the "THIS WEEK'S MOVE" card at the top of the plan ("YOUR NEXT MOVE" on goal-driven plans), the same action reads "Generate from this move". A content task with no matching tool says "No matching Create tool yet" instead.
  3. 3Confirm what traveled with it: the task title prefilled as the "Theme or topic", a "From your plan" note naming the channel, the matching content tab, and a "Task drafting helper" panel with "Back to task".
  4. 4Tighten the brief before you spend anything: rewrite a broad title as one concrete angle, and switch the tab if it does not fit the channel.
  5. 5Keep working in the page you opened from the task. If you reach Create from the left navigation instead, there is no helper panel and new ideas carry no task link; reopen it from the task card.

What you should see

Create opens on the matching tab with the theme prefilled, the "From your plan" note under it, and the "Task drafting helper" panel reminding you to paste the exact public URL on the task after publishing. If you see only the generic hint that the theme is optional, you arrived without the task link.

How to judge it

You can say what job this asset is doing, and how you will know it worked, by pointing at the plan task (Know what done looks like). The helper panel is on screen before you generate anything.

What it does not mean

  • The task is a brief, not a cage. You can change the theme or tab in Create, but do it deliberately and keep the task link.
  • A prefilled theme is a starting point, not an approved message.
  • Not every plan task belongs in Create. Strategy, measurement, and operations tasks stay on the plan.
