Set a plan target (TARGETS)

Set the KPI your Marketing Plan is driving toward, with a baseline and a target value, so the weekly review has something to measure against.

Last reviewed against the product September 22, 2026

Prerequisites

An active Marketing Plan, the metric that shows the primary outcome, and its baseline value.

Exact steps

  1. 1On the Marketing Plan, find the TARGETS panel.
  2. 2If it reads "No target yet. Set the KPI this plan is driving toward.", press "Set a target".
  3. 3Fill in Metric, Display name, Baseline value, Target value (it must exceed the baseline), Start date, and End date, with optional Notes. Tick "Make this the primary target" for the headline KPI, then press "Create Target". The current value comes from the metric's data source, not from you.
  4. 4Confirm the target appears in the TARGETS panel with its Current, Baseline, and Target values. If success can't be a number yet, describe it in the Planning Focus field "How will we know this worked?" and say plainly that no measured target exists, instead of inventing one.

Expected result

The plan has a named target that the weekly review measures against.

Troubleshooting

A target nobody looks at is decoration. If the weekly review never references the target, the target is wrong or the review is skipping a step. Targets can change, but change them with a reason, in the open, not silently.
